How We Helped a Local Couple Find Their Dream Ring
One of our favorite things about being a local jeweler is getting to be part of people’s biggest moments — proposals, anniversaries, and new beginnings. And every once in a while, a couple comes in and reminds us exactly why we do what we do.
This is the story of Megan and Tyler — a couple from right here in the Dubuque area — and how we helped them find the engagement ring that felt just right.
💬 They Walked in Nervous — and a Little Overwhelmed
Tyler had been researching online for weeks.
He told us, “I thought I was doing the right thing — reading every article, comparing websites, pricing out diamonds. But honestly, the more I looked, the more confused I got.”

He described her style: a little vintage, a little classic, very elegant. He wasn’t sure about the diamond shape, so we pulled out a tray of semi-mount rings and showed him what was possible.
With our on-site jewelers, we were able to explain how he could choose a setting he loved and then pick a separate center diamond — giving him total control over the style, sparkle, and budget.
Within minutes, the stress started melting away.
✨ The Ring That Spoke to Him
Tyler was drawn to a white gold semi-mount with a hidden halo and delicate side stones. It was elegant, feminine, and had just the right amount of sparkle — but we let him compare it to a few other styles, just to be sure.
We showed him round vs. oval vs. cushion diamonds, explained the difference between natural and lab-grown options, and let him see the sparkle for himself.
By the end of the visit, he pointed to one ring and said,
“That’s the one. That’s her.”
We set the diamond in-house, sized the ring, and had it ready in time for his lakeside proposal two weeks later.
